IMMEDIATE POSITION OPEN:

Elementary Classroom Aide & Cafeteria Monitor

This position can be split into two positions: Elementary Class Aide (4.75hrs/day) or
Cafeteria Monitor (2hrs/day). Indicate preference for one or both positions on the application.


Position Type: Hourly, Nonexempt
Hours: 6.75 hours/day (4.75hrs Classroom Aide + 2hrs Cafeteria Monitor)

Pay rate: $17.25/hr. 
Times: 8am – 3:30pm, School days only
Contract Dates: Upon hire – June 10, 2026
Reports To: Elementary Principal


Position Summary
This combined role supports the elementary program by providing daily instructional assistance in the
classroom and ensuring a safe, positive environment during lunch periods. The position is designed
to meet immediate staffing needs for the remainder of the school year and plays an important part in
maintaining smooth daily operations and student supervision.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities
1. Elementary Classroom Aide — 4.75 Hours/Day

  • Support the classroom teacher with instructional activities, small group work, and other teacher support actions as assigned.

  • Reinforce classroom routines, expectations, and behavior standards to maintain a positive learning environment.

  • Assist with preparation of materials, organization of learning spaces, and basic clerical tasks.

  • Supervise students during transitions, recess, and other noninstructional times as assigned.

  • Maintain confidentiality and uphold school policies, safety procedures, and professional conduct expectations.

2. Cafeteria Monitor — 2 Hours/Day

  • Supervise students during lunch periods to ensure safety, respectful behavior, and orderly routines.

  • Assist students with seating, opening food items, and navigating cafeteria procedures.

  • Monitor cleanliness of tables and surrounding areas; support custodial staff by encouraging student responsibility for cleanup.

  • Address minor conflicts or behavior concerns using positive, school-aligned strategies; refer significant issues to appropriate staff.

  • Maintain a calm, structured environment that promotes positive social interaction.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.

  • Experience working with children in a school, childcare, or youth program setting preferred.

  • Ability to follow teacher direction, support instructional goals, and maintain consistent expectations.

  • Strong communication skills and the ability to build positive rapport with students, parents and staff.

  • Capacity to supervise groups of children safely and confidently in both classroom and cafeteria settings.

  • Commitment to the school’s mission, values, and community standards.

Work Environment & Physical Requirements

  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, and supervise active children for extended periods.

  • Ability to lift up to 25 pounds occasionally (e.g., moving supplies, assisting with classroom setup).

  • Work occurs in classrooms, hallways, cafeteria spaces, and outdoor areas.

Employment Terms

  • Hourly, nonexempt position through June 10, 2026.

  • Daily schedule set by cafeteria schedule and teacher’s classroom needs.

  • Continued employment beyond this contract period is not guaranteed but may be considered based on staffing needs.
